James Moellenhoff began his singing studies in Missouri and completed them at the Southwest Missouri State University. After further studies at the University of Texas in Austin he has made his debut at the Austin Lyrik Opera as Sarastro in »The Magic Flute«. This was followed by a series of important parts of the mode, such as Osmin in »The Abduction from the Seraglio«, Rocco in »Fidelio« and Silva in »Ernani«. His first German engagement took him to Trier, subsequently he became a permanent member of the ensemble in Bremen and Mannheim. His first parts include, amongst others, the roles of Zaccharias in »Nabucco«, of Landgrave in »Tannhäuser«, of Gurnemanz in »Parsifal« and the part of Hagen in »Götterdämmerung«. Guest performances took him, amongst others, to Hanover, Frankfurt, Cologne and Dresden. James Moellenhoff is regularly engaged in Leipzig since the 2001/02 season. At the Komische Oper Berlin he will be seen in the 2006/07 season as Town Major in »Don Giovanni«.
