Maddalena in »Rigoletto«, Prinz Orlofsky in »Die Fledermaus«, Leokadija Begbick in »Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny«
Christiane Oertel begann ihre Bühnenlaufbahn als lyrische Mezzosopranistin am Opernhaus Erfurt. 1986 holte sie Harry Kupfer als Cherubino an die Komische Oper Berlin, wo sie 1988 festes Ensemblemitglied wurde. Hier sang sie u. a. die Dorabella in »Così fan tutte«, die Titelpartie in »La Cenerentola«, den Komponisten in »Ariadne auf Naxos« und auch Partien wie Olga und Polina. Sie hatte Gastspielverträge als Cherubino mit dem Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London und der Hamburgischen Staatsoper, arbeitete mit Dirigenten wie Jeffrey Tate und Bernard Haitink. 1998 debütierte sie bei den Salzburger Festspielen und setzte die Gastspiele als Idamante und Siebel in »Faust« im Kleinen Festspielhaus fort. Mit Kurt Masur gestaltete sie CD-Einspielungen und Konzerte, u. a. bei den BBC Proms in London und beim Festival Aix-en-Provence. 2003 verlieh ihr der Senat von Berlin den Titel »Kammersängerin«. 2004 debütierte Christiane Oertel mit der Partie der Bianca in »Eine florentinische Tragödie« an der Mailänder Scala sowie 2005 als Dritte Magd in »Elektra«. 2007 gastierte sie als Clarice in »Die Liebe zu drei Orangen« am Teatro Carlo Felice in Genua. Sie konzertierte u. a. mit dem Gewandhausorchester und dem Thomanerchor. An der Komischen Oper Berlin sang sie Bianca in »Eine florentinische Tragödie«, Clarice in »Die Liebe zu drei Orangen«, Maddalena in »Rigoletto«, Ruggiero in »Alcina«, Mrs. Herring in »Albert Herring« und Donna Elvira.

She took up guest contracts as Cherubino with the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London and the Hamburg State Opera House, and worked with the conductors Jeffrey Tate and Bernard Haitink. In 1998 she made her debut with the Salzburg Festival and continued the guest performances as Idamante and Siebel in »Faust« for the Kleines Festspielhaus. With Kurt Masur she arranged CD-recordings and concerts, amongst others with the BBC Proms in London, and the Festival Aix-en-Provence. In 2003 she was appointed as »Chamber Singer« by the Senate of Berlin. Christiane Oertel made her Milan Scala debut in 2004 as Bianca in »A Florentine Tragedy«, being contracted again in 2005 as Third Maidservant for »Elektra«. In 2007 she gave a guest performance as Clarice in »The Love of Three Oranges« for the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa. She gave concerts with the Gewandhausorchester and the Thomanerchor.
