The contralto Annette Market was born in Kaltensundheim/ Röhn. After completing her singing studies at the University of Music ''Felix-Mendelssohn-Bartholdy'' in Leipzig she was engaged at the opera houses of Halle and Leipzig. Since 1996 she was working as a freelancer. Her opera repertory includes amongst others the title parts of Händel's operas Floridante, Rinaldo and Orest, but also Gluck's Orpheus, Mozart parts such as Sesto, Cherubino and Dorabella, as well as Rosina (The Barber of Seville) and Olga (Jewgeni Onegin). For the creation of Händel operas she received twice the Händel Prize of the city of Halle. Annette Markert worked with eminent conductors, choirs and orchestras, amongst others with the Leipzig Gewandhausorchester under Kurt Masur, under Sir Roger Norrington at the Royal Albert Hall (h-moll-Messe of J. S. Bach), the New York Philharmonic and the Leipzig Thomaner Choir under Kurt Masur (Matthäus-Passion) in the Lincoln Center and the Vienna Philharmonic (Johannes-Passion at the Vienna ''Osterklang'' Festival under Phillip Herreweghe). Likewise under Phillip Herreweghe she took part at the Opening Concert of the Salzburg Festspiele with the Elias of Mendelssohn. After successful guest appearances at the Göttingen Händelfestspiele with the operas Tolomeo and Partenope (Guidance: Nicholas McGegan), the artist portrayed at the Hannover Staatsoper the title part of Giulio Cesare (Direction: Herbert Wernicke, Conductor: Michael Hofstetter). The part of Ruggiero in Alcina is her first part at the the Komische Oper Berlin.
