“The sky is no longer out there, but it is right on the edge of the space you are in. The sense of colour is generated inside you. If you then go outside you will see a different coloured sky.” (James Turrell) – Hungarian choreographer Máté Mészáros and video art collective Urbanscreen, along with the Unusual Symptoms dancers, explored the interplay between bodies, space, and light in 2019. They now transfer their work from the stage into the Kunsthalle Bremen. Projections that occupy whole rooms provide a surprising new shape to empty exhibition halls while the choreography, in dialogue with various spaces within the museum, becomes an experience in its own sculptural quality. The audiences themselves may decide which perspective to take. Not only the choreography gains a new context in this way. In the intertwining of museum and dance, new perspectives on the museum’s architecture and the artworks displayed within will flourish.
