Ticciati hat in kurzer Zeit eine bemerkenswerte Karriere durchlaufen, die Verpflichtungen bei der Sächsischen Staatskapelle Dresden, den Göteborgs Symfoniker, dem Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, der Northern Sinfonia, dem Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, dem Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, und den Bamberger Symphonikern beinhaltet. Sein Debüt mit der Filarmonica della Scala im Juni 2005 machte Ticciati zum jüngsten Dirigenten an der Scala. Bei den Salzburger Festspielen debütierte er im Sommer 2006 mit Mozarts Il sogno di Scipione – als jüngster Dirigent in der Geschichte der Festspiele. Die DVD der Aufführung erschien später bei der Deutschen Grammophon.

Zu seinen Projekten 2007/08 gehörten Verdis Macbeth in Glyndebourne, Brittens Rape of Lucretia im Wiener Konzerthaus zusammen mit Ian Bostridge und Angelika Kirschlager und eine Tour nach Japan mit der Salzburger Produktion von Le nozze de Figaro zusammen mit dem Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. In der Saison 2008/09 wird er mit Hänsel und Gretel sein Debüt am Royal Opera House Covent Garden geben und mit derselben Oper im Rahmen von Glyndebourne on Tour zu erleben sein. Im März 2009 wird er mit Così fan tutte in der Salzburger Inszenierung mit dem MCO zusammen nach Japan zurückkehren.
Ausgebildet in Geige, Klavier und Schlagzeug, sammelte der in London geborene Ticciati seine ersten Dirigiererfahrungen im Alter von 15 Jahren mit der Unterstützung von Sir Colin Davis und Sir Simon Rattle, damals noch als Mitglied des National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Während seines Studiums an der St. Paul’s School leitete er die John Colet Singers in einer Reihe von Aufführungen, die in einer Darbietung der Mozart Messe in d-Moll ihren Höhepunkt fanden. Darüber hinaus dirigierte er Aufführungen von Mozarts Bastien und Bastienne. Als Mitglied des National Youth Orchestra gewann er die Arthur-Belgin-Medaille als herausragendster Musiker des Jahres 2002. 2005 war er Stipendiat des Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship.

Those qualities were elaborated over the following three hours as young Robin Ticciati, in his festival debut, gave us a demonstration of how to conduct Mozart. There was nothing didactic about his Così. Ticciati did not hector the music in the modern fashion, and yet his reading had attitude. With the London Philharmonic in the pit, he set a sensible tempo, let the music breathe naturally – that’s what I call style – and gave his singers the freedom of the stage."

With the opening of the 2007/08 season, Robin Ticciati enters his second year as Music Director and Artistic Advisor to the Gävle Symphony Orchestra (Sweden) and continues as Music Director of Glyndebourne on Tour (GOT), a position he assumed in January, 2007.
A violinist, pianist and percussionist by training, London-born Ticciati turned to conducting at the age of 15 under the guidance of Sir Colin Davis and Sir Simon Rattle, while still a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. During his studies at St Paul’s School he conducted the John Colet Singers in a number of works culminating in a performance of Mozart’s Mass in D minor. He also conducted Mozart’s “Bastien and Bastienne”.
His career has progressed rapidly with recent engagements including the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Northern Sinfonia, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, as well as acclaimed opera revivals in Stuttgart and Zürich and a new production in Klagenfurt. With his Filarmonica della Scala debut in June 2005, Ticciati became the youngest conductor to conduct at La Scala, Milan.
He conducted Mozart’s “Il sogno di Scipione” in Salzburg in the summer of 2006, becoming the youngest debut conductor in the history of this famed Austrian festival. The performance was later released by Deutsche Grammophon (0734249) worldwide. He made debut appearances in the 2006/07 season with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and had reengagements that season with Filarmonica della Scala, the Bamberger Symphoniker and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
Ticciati’s forthcoming projects include Verdi’s “Macbeth” at Glyndebourne in autumn 2007, Britten’s “Rape of Lucretia” at the Vienna Konzerthaus with Ian Bostridge and Angelika Kirschlager and debut symphonic engagements with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2002, as a member of the National Youth Orchestra, Ticciati won the Arthur Belgin Medal for Most Outstanding Musician of the Year. In 2005 he was the recipient of a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship.
