Synopsis
Set in an unnamed Midlands town, TwentyFourSeven (the title is local slang for 'round the clock, seven days a week') is the story of Alan Darcy (Bob Hoskins), an inspired visionary who is obsessed with restoring dignity to the town's alienated youth and bringing a sense of purpose to their lives. He does this by setting up a local boxing club, and his diary entries chart the lads' comic efforts to regain not only their fitness but an identity lost in the Thatcherite era. TwentyFourSeven is a celebration of this unique man, seen through the trials of his reluctant disciples."This group of lads have their own tight sense of community: it's in their language, their humour, their attitude," says director Shane Meadows. "They do the same thing 24 hours a day, seven days a week - setting themselves apart. Darcy comes in with an open heart and pierces that."
