In der Reihe CGNYC – Cologne meets New York lädt der Kölner Bassist Florian Herzog New Yorker Musiker*innen ein, um in einem ersten Zusammentreffen Konzerte zu gestalten.

Die in Vancouver geborene Saxophonistin, Flötistin und Komponistin Anna Webber zählt zu den prägenden Stimmen des zeitgenössischen Jazz. Ihre Alben Clockwise (2019) und Both Are True (2020, mit Angela Morris) wurden von The New York Times und NPR als herausragende Veröffentlichungen gefeiert, 2018 erhielt sie ein Guggenheim-Stipendium.
Nach Studien in Montréal, New York und Berlin etablierte sie sich in der New Yorker Szene und arbeitete mit Musiker*innen wie Matt Mitchell, Ches Smith und Dan Weiss. Als Bandleaderin gründete sie Formationen wie das Simple Trio, Percussive Mechanics, Clockwise und die Webber/Morris Big Band. Ihre Kompositionen verbinden Einflüsse der Neuen Musik mit komplexen rhythmischen Strukturen und einem experimentellen Klangansatz, zuletzt eindrucksvoll dokumentiert auf ihrem Quintett-Album Shimmer Wince (2023).

Vancouver-born saxophonist, flutist, and composer Anna Webber is one of the defining voices of contemporary jazz. Her albums Clockwise (2019) and Both Are True (2020, with Angela Morris) were hailed as outstanding releases by The New York Times and NPR, and in 2018 she received a Guggenheim Fellowship.

After studying in Montreal, New York, and Berlin, she established herself on the New York scene and worked with musicians such as Matt Mitchell, Ches Smith, and Dan Weiss. As a bandleader, she founded formations such as the Simple Trio, Percussive Mechanics, Clockwise, and the Webber/Morris Big Band. Her compositions combine influences from new music with complex rhythmic structures and an experimental approach to sound, most recently impressively documented on her quintet album Shimmer Wince (2023).



The concerts at the LOFT will generally start at around 8.00 pm CET - the LOFT will open at 7.30 pm CET.
