Die in Bukarest geborene Sopranistin studierte dort von 1994 bis 1996 Klavier an der Hochschule für Musik. Es schloss sich das Gesangsstudium an der Folkwang-Hochschule Essen bei Kammersängerin Csilla Zentai an. Die mehrfach ausgezeichnete Sopranistin (u. a. 2. Preis beim Internationalen Johann-Strauß-Wettbewerb Wien und 1. Preis beim Internationalen Robert-Stolz-Gesangswettbewerb) überzeugte während ihres Engagements am Meininger Theater ihr Publikum als Sophie in »Der Rosenkavalier«, als Gilda in »Rigoletto«, als Despina in »Così fan tutte« und als Rosina in »Der Barbier von Sevilla«. Im Sommer 2006 wird sie als Blonde in »Die Entführung aus dem Serail« bei den Salzburger Festspielen zu erleben sein. Seit der Spielzeit 2002/03 ist sie an der Komischen Oper Berlin fest engagiert und singt u. a. Blonde in »Die Entführung aus dem Serail«, Adele in »Die Fledermaus«, Gilda in »Rigoletto«, Hermione in »Orest« und die Königin von Schemacha in »Der goldene Hahn«. In der Spielzeit 2006/07 wird Valentina Farcas außerdem die Partie der Olympia in der Neuinszenierung von »Hoffmanns Erzählungen« singen.

The Romanian soprano was born in Bucharest. From 1994 to 1996 she has studied piano at the Music Academy of her home town. She continued her training at the Folkwang-University Essen, where she has studied singing with the chamber singer Csilla Zentai. The repeatedly rewarded soprano (amongst others semi finalist at the International Johann-Strauß-Competition Vienna; first prize at the International Robert-Stolz-Singing Competition) convinced her audience throughout her engagement at the Meiningen Theatre as Sophie in »The Knight of the Rose«, Gilda in »Rigoletto«, Despina in »Così fan tutte« and as Rosina in »The Barber of Seville«. In summer 2006 she will be seen as Blonde in »The Abduction from the Seraglio« at the Salzburg Festival. Since the 2002/03 season she is permanently engaged at the Komische Oper Berlin and sings, amongst others, Blonde in »The Abduction from the Seraglio«, Pamina in »The Magic Flute«, Gilda in »Rigoletto«, Hermione in »Orest« and the Queen of Schemacha in »The Golden Cockerel«. On top of that, Valentina Farcas will sing in the 2006/07 season the parts of Sophie in »The Knight of the Rose« and that of Olympia in the new production of »Tales of Hoffman«.

Preis beim Internationalen Johann-Strauß-Wettbewerb, Wien, und dem Operetten-Sonderpreis beim Wettbewerb »Neue Stimmen« der Bertelsmann Stiftung. 2006 debütierte sie als Blonde in »Die Entführung aus dem Serail« bei den Salzburger Festspielen (DVD Decca) und beim Maggio Musicale Firenze mit Konzerten unter der Leitung von Riccardo Muti. Seit der Spielzeit 2002/03 ist sie an der Komischen Oper Berlin engagiert und singt u.a. Blonde, Pamina, Gilda in Rigoletto, Hermione in Orest und Adele in »Die Fledermaus«. In der letzten Spielzeit kam außerdem die Partie der Sophie in »Der Rosenkavalier« hinzu. Weitere Auftritte führten sie als Liù in »Turandot« an das Teatro Regio di Parma, als Gilda zum Macau International Music Festival und zum Savonlinna-Festival/ Finnland, als Adina in »L’elisir d’amore« zur Palm Beach Opera und als Adele an die Oper in Santiago de Chile. In der Spielzeit 2007/08 wird sie als Sophie, Musette in der Neuproduktion »La Bohème« und als Pamina in »Die Zauberflöte« zu erleben sein.
