The Dutch began his studies at the Music Academy of Utrecht with Udo Zimmermann and studied afterwards with the tenor James McCray. He took part in international productions such as the Requia by Verdi and Mozart, Schumann' s Scenes from Goethe`s Faust and Loriot' s Ring on one evening. First the bariton was engaged at the Meiningen Theatre, where he played amongst others the title part in Don Giovanni, appeared as Scarpia in Tosca and was seen as Dutchman. Nanco de Vries joined the ensemble of the Komische Oper Berlin in the 2003/04 season. Since then he sang the parts of Altgesell in Jenufa, of Don Fernando in Fidelio, the Speaker in The Magic Flute, he portrayed Melisso in Alcina and Schaunard in La Bohème and played Mr. Gedge in Albert Herring. In the 2005/06 season he will as well sing the part of Leander in The Love of Three Oranges, furthermore he will portray Mr. Gedge in Albert Herring and Prince Afron in the new production The Golden Cockerel.
