###
Michaela Mayer-Michnay was born in Graz and has studied at the university of her home town set design and costume creation. Her first engagement took her from1977 to 1979 to the Solothurn Stadttheater in Switzerland. Afterwards she came to the Graz Bühnen. There she was for 22 years member of the ensemble and created designs for drama, opera, operetta, musical and ballet.
She worked in this time with such directors, as Martin Kušej, Bernd Jeschek and Peter Konwitschny and was a guest at the Schauspiel Düsseldorf, the Dresden Semperoper and the Saarbrücken Staatstheater. Since 1996 she deals with „Textilem Grenzland“, what includes both the occupation with costumes in the broadest sense and the usage of textile techniques for the staging of a theme.
At the Komische Oper Berlin she has designed the costumes for the Konwitschny-Productions »Don Giovanni«, »Così fan tutte« and »Land of Smile«.
