Der in Stuttgart geborene Bassist studierte an der Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik in seiner Heimatstadt bei Wayne Long, Robert Hiller sowie bei Rudolf Piernay in Mannheim. Er erhielt 1994 ein Stipendium des Richard-Wagner-Verbandes und 1997 das Putbus-Stipendium »Lili Zinser«. Er war Ensemblemitglied sowohl am Staatstheater Mainz (1997-2001) als auch am Stadttheater Gießen
(Spielzeit 2001/2002). Seit 1995 ist er ständiger Gast beim Putbus Festival bzw. Rossini-Festival Rügen. Er gastierte an zahlreichen Opernhäuser u. a. in Stuttgart, Wiesbaden, Mannheim, Kaiserslautern, Luzern und Pforzheim, bei den Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspielen, beim Europäischen Musikfest Stuttgart, Menuhin-Festival Gstaad, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Musiksommer Mecklenburg-Vorpommern und bei den Schlossfestspielen Weikersheim. Zu Christian Tschelebiews Partien zählen u. a. Zaccaria aus »Nabucco«, König Marke aus »Tristan und Isolde«, Figaro in »Die Hochzeit des Figaro«, Don Giovanni und Leporello in »Don Giovann«i und Don Bartolo in »Der Barbier von Sevilla«.
In der Spielzeit 2003/04 trat er im Theater Erfurt als König Treff in »Die Liebe zu den drei Orangen«, van Bett in »Zar und Zimmermann« und Mephisto in »La Damnation de Faust« auf.
An der Komischen Oper Berlin debütierte er in der vergangenen Spielzeit als Baron Douphol in »La Traviata«. In der Spielzeit 2006/07 wird Christian Tschelebiew als Don Alfonso in »Così fan tutte« auf der Bühne der Komischen Oper stehen.

The bass is born in Stuttgart and has studied in his home town at the State University of Music with Wayne Long, Robert Hiller as well as with Rudolf Piernay in Mannheim. In 1994 he has received a scholarship of the Richard-Wagner-association and in 1997 also the Putbus-scholarship »Lili Zinser«.
He was both member of the ensemble of the Staatstheater Mainz (1997 till 2001) and of the Gießen Stadttheater (2001/02 season). Since 1995 he is a permanent guest of the Putbus-Festival and respectively of the Rügen Rossini-Festival.
