Der lyrische Bariton Yancheng Chen wurde in Henan (China) geboren. Nach seinem Bachelor-Gesangsstudium an der Hochschule für Musik Tianjin in seinem Heimatland absolvierte er von 2020 bis 2022 den Master-Studiengang Oper bei Prof. Mario Hoff an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. In der Spielzeit 22/23 war er Mitglied im Jungen Ensemble am Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen. Er arbeitete bereits mit Dirigenten wie Rasmus Baumann und Stephan E. Wehr sowie mit Regisseur:innen wie Thilo Reinhardt, Michael Schulz, Rahel Thiel und Sonja Trebes zusammen. Auf der Bühne verkörperte er Rollen wie Moralès („Carmen“), Haraschta („Das schlaue Füchslein“), Steward („Flight“) und Guglielmo („Così fan tutte“). Darüber hinaus tritt er seit 2021 auch im Konzertbereich in Erscheinung. Seit der Spielzeit 23/24 ist Yancheng Chen Mitglied des Opernstudios NRW. Yancheng Chen hat die Partie des Karl schon in der Uraufführung von Freedom Collective Musiktheater im Revier, Gelsenkirchen verkörpert.
