Su Bühler, geboren in Stuttgart, arbeitete zunächst als Kostümassistentin am Niedersächsischen Staatstheater Hannover und am Bayerischen Staatsschauspiel München. Nach ersten Arbeiten mit Regisseur Matthias Hartmann war sie unter seiner Intendanz Leitende Kostümbildnerin am Schauspielhaus Bochum (2000-2005) und am Schauspielhaus Zürich (2005-2009). Zu den wichtigsten gemeinsamen Produktionen zählen die Botho-Strauß-Uraufführungen DER NARR UND SEINE FRAU HEUTE ABEND IN PANCOMEDIA (2001) am Schauspielhaus Bochum und NACH DER LIEBE BEGINNT IHRE GESCHICHTE (2005) am Schauspielhaus Zürich, die Eröffnungspremiere der Ruhrtriennale unter Gerard Mortier DEUTSCHLAND, DEINE LIEDER (2002) und Christian Krachts 1979 in der Zeche 1 als Produktion des Schauspielhauses Bochum (2003). Darüber hinaus arbeitete Su Bühler als freischaffende Kostümbildnerin mit Regisseuren wie Andreas Kriegenburg, Konstanze Lauterbach, Helge Schneider, David Bösch, Claus Peymann, Johanna Wehner, Wilfried Minks, Maria Happel, Jürgen Kruse, Georg Schmiedleitner und Alexandra Liedtke zusammen. Engagements führten sie u. a. an das Opernhaus Zürich, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Wiener Burgtheater, Michailowski Theater Sankt Petersburg, an die Wiener Staatsoper und zu den Salzburger Festspielen.
