Mit seinen Stücken war er bereits mehrmals zu Gast beim Festival Internationale Neue Dramatik (F.I.N.D.) an der Schaubühne. Er ist bekannt für seine sehr eigene, extrem physische Theatersprache. Seine Inszenierungen sind Provokationen, die mit großer szenischer Wucht den Zuschauer attackieren und in wütenden Texten mit der westlichen Zivilisation abrechnen. Seine Werke wurden in viele Sprachen übersetzt und weltweit aufgeführt. Rodrigo García inszenierte 2011 an der Schaubühne zum ersten Mal auf Deutsch. Mit »Gólgota Picnic« war er 2012 zum Festival Foreign Affairs eingeladen. Seit Januar 2014 ist García künstlerischer Leiter des hTh (Humain trop humain) am CDN (Centre dramatique national) Montpellier.
An der Schaubühne inszenierte er „Soll mir lieber Goya den Schlaf rauben als irgendein Arschloch“ (UA 2011) sowie „Notizen aus der Küche“ (Realisation: Patrick Wengenroth, 2013).
Mit DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL gab Rodrigo García in der Saison 2015/2016 an der Deutschen Oper Berlin sein Musiktheaterdebüt.
