Nicola Reichert absolvierte eine Ausbildung als Theatermalerin am Aalto-Theater Essen und studierte Bühnen- und Kostümbild an der HfG Offenbach mit Nebenfach Regie an der Musikhochschule Frankfurt am Main. Sie begann 1996 ihre freiberufliche Laufbahn als Bühnenbildnerin am Schauspielhaus Bochum und war Gastdozentin für Bühne und Kostüm an der Folkwang Hochschule Essen und am Operastudio Vlaanderen in Gent tätig. Sie arbeitete mit Regisseuren wie Calixto Bieito, Guy Joosten, Gabriele Rech und Rosamund Gilmore. Mit dem Regisseur Immo Karaman verbindet sie eine langjährige Zusammenarbeit u.a. für Verdi „La traviata“ in Dortmund, Verdi „Un ballo in maschera“ in Bonn, Deschewow „Eis und Stahl“ in Saarbrücken, Britten „Tod in Venedig“ am Münchner Gärtnerplatz und Adams „Dr. Atomic“ in Helsinki. An der Deutschen Oper am Rhein hat sie die Kostüme für „Peter Grimes“, sowie Bühne und Kostüme für „Billy Budd“ (beide von Britten) und „Der Zwerg“ (Zemlinsky) entworfen. Sie gastierte an der Israeli Opera Tel Aviv und bei den Bregenzer Festspielen und erarbeitete mit Rosamund Gilmore an der Oper Leipzig Wagners „Ring des Nibelungen“. 2018 schuf sie Bühne und Kostüme für „Orango“ (Schostakowitsch) in Darmstadt und „Der Zauberer von OZ“ (Harburg) in Klagenfurt und die Kostüme für „Die Zauberflöte“ (Mozart) am Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz München.
