Nadja Smith is a documentary producer from Berlin, Germany. She studied photography and audiovisual production with focus on documentary at the Free University Berlin and at the University of Applied Science Bielefeld, Germany. She started her career working for several German TV stations (WDR, rbb/ARTE, BTV) until she got the opportunity to produce a cultural news program for Catalan TV, in cooperation with the Goethe Institute in Barcelona (2008 - 2011). Starting in 2011 Nadja Smith worked for different Berlin based companies (f.e. credo:film, MEDEA film) producing TV documentaries for ARTE. In 2013 she founded her own company [N]SMITH focusing on socio-political and international co-production. Her latest theatrical releases are nine short documentaries about contemporary photographers from East Germany, screened at Willy-Brandt-Haus Berlin in the frame of the exhibition DER DRITTE BLICK (2015), the co-production ANDROIDS DREAM (2014) by Ion de Sosa, premiere at 65th Berlinale Forum and the co-production of the short documentary ONE MILLION STEPS (2015) by Eva Stotz. Right now she is working with award-winning Catalan director
Alba Sotorra (GAME OVER, 2015) producing the feature length documentary THE EARTH MASTERS. Selected for Below Zero 2016 and ESoDoc 2016 supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. Since 2015 [N]SMITH is one of the main producers of TV idents for Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg. [N]SMITH is also producing educational formats for different German universities.
