Von 2013 bis 2017 war er am Schauspiel Stuttgart engagiert und arbeitete dort zum Beispiel mit Frank Castorf, Schorsch Kamerun, Jossi Wieler, Stephan Kimmig und Christopher Rüping, mit dessen Inszenierung »Das Fest« er 2015 zum Berliner Theatertreffen eingeladen war. Neben diversen Hörspielproduktionen ist Matti Krause seit 2015 Radiotatort-Kommissar beim SWR.
Seit der Saison 2017-18 gehört Matti Krause zum Ensemble des Deutschen SchauSpielHauses.
