Der 1977 in Kiel geborene Bass begann 1999 sein Musikstudium an der Musikhochschule Köln. Im gleichen Jahr nahm er auch erfolgreich am Bundeswettbewerb „Jugend musiziert“ teil. Bisherige Engagements führten ihn u. a. an die Junge Kammeroper Köln, die Deutsche Oper am Rhein und an das Theater Solingen. Der 1977 in Kiel geborene Bass begann 1999 sein Musikstudium an der Musikhochschule Köln. Im gleichen Jahr nahm er auch erfolgreich am Bundeswettbewerb „Jugend musiziert“ teil. Bisherige Engagements führten ihn u. a. an die Junge Kammeroper Köln, die Deutsche Oper am Rhein und an das Theater Solingen. Mit der Spielzeit 2004/05 wurde er Mitglied im Jungen Ensemble der Bayerischen Staatsoper München. Zu seinen bisher gesungenen Partien zählen unter anderem Bartolo in „Hochzeit des Figaro”, Pfarrer und Dachs in „Das schlaue Füchslein”, van Bett in „Zar und Zimmermann” sowie Baculus in „Wildschütz”. Seit 2005 gehört Matthias Wippich fest zum Ensemble des Theaters Krefeld und Mönchengladbach und war u. a. als Colline in „La bohème“, Don Alfonso in „Così fan tutte“, Raimondo in „Lucia di Lammermoor “, Micha in „Die verkaufte Braut“, Truffaldin in „Ariadne auf Naxos“, Donna Magnifica/Alidoro in der Kinderoper „Aschenputtel“, Dulcamara in „Der Liebestrank“, Kaiphas in „Jesus Christ Superstar“, Ein Mönch/Karl V. in „Don Carlo“, General Lefort in „Zar und Zimmermann“ und Vincenzo Biscroma in „Viva la Mamma!“ zu sehen.
