Maryam Zaree spielt im Film »Shahada« (Regie: Burhan Qurbani, 2010), der u. a. 2010 als Wettbewerbsfilm der Berlinale gezeigt wurde und den Hessischen Filmpreis gewann, sowie im Film »Abgebrannt« (Regie Verena S. Freytag), der u. a. mit dem New Berlin Film Award in der Kategorie Bester Spielfilm beim Festival Achtung Berlin ausgezeichnet wurde. Für ihre schauspielerische Leistung in »Shahada« wurde sie 2010 beim Monterrey International Film Festival in Mexiko und beim Internationaal Filmfestival van Vlaanderen in Gent als beste Darstellerin ausgezeichnet.
