Martin Winkler wurde in Bregenz geboren und studierte an der Wiener Musikhochschule. Zu seinen Partien gehören u. a. der Vater in »Hänsel und Gretel« an der Staatsoper Prag, Nekrotzar in »Le Grand Macabre« bei den Salzburger Festspielen 1997 und am Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Frank in »Die Fledermaus« und Don Alfonso in »Così fan tutte« an der Kammeroper Wien sowie Kothner an der Volksoper Wien. Zu den herausragenden
Rollenporträts des Bassbaritons zählen die großen Partien des zeitgenössischen Musiktheaters wie Nixon in Adams »Nixon in China« und Grandier in Pendereckis »Teufel von Loudun«. Von 2002 bis 2005 war er im Ensemble des Schleswig-Holsteinischen Landestheaters Kiel engagiert. Martin Winkler was born in Bregenz and studied at the Vienna Music Academy. His parts include, amongst others, Father in »Hänsel and Gretel« at the Prague State Opera House, Nekrotzar in »Le Grand Macabre« for the Salzburg Festival in 1997, Frank in »The Bat« for the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, and Don Alfonso in »Così fan tutte« for the Vienna Kammeroper as well as Kothner for the Vienna Volksoper. The outstanding role portraits of the bassbaritone include the great parts of the contemporary music theatre, such as Nixon in Adam's »Nixon in China« and Grandier in Penderecki's »The Devils of Loudun«. From 2002 to 2005 he was member of the ensemble of the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater in Kiel.
Martin Winkler is member of the ensemble of the Komische Oper Berlin since the season 2006/07, where he already sang Nekrotzar in Barrie Kosky's staging of »Le Grand Macabre« in 2004.
