Marlene Lockemann wurde 1989 in Berlin geboren. Von 2012 bis 2017 studierte sie Bühnenraum und freie Kunst an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg bei Professor Raimund Bauer. Vor und während ihres Studiums assistierte sie bei Bühnen- und Kostümbildarbeiten u. a. am Ballhaus Naunynstraße in Berlin und am Thalia Theater in Hamburg. Marlene Lockemann entwickelte Bühnenräume u. a. für Inszenierungen am Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin, dem Berliner Ensemble, dem Deutschen Schauspielhaus, in der Staatsoper und auf Kampnagel in Hamburg. 2016 wurde sie im Rahmen der Kritikerumfrage des Magazins Theater heute als beste Nachwuchsbühnenbildnerin des Jahres nominiert und erneut 2021. Mit der Regisseurin Elsa-Sophie Jach arbeitete sie u. a. am Residenztheater München, dem Theater Oberhausen und dem Thalia Theater Hamburg. Am Theater Bremen verantwortete sie die Bühnenbilder für „WÜST oder die Marquise von O…. – Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!“ und „Eileen“.
