Die in Sibirien geborene Sopranistin Maria Vasilevskaya, die für ihren „süßen und klaren Ton“ (Palm Beach Daily News) und ihre „durchsetzungskräftige Darbietung“ (City Paper) gelobt wird, gehört in der Saison 2024/25 als New York Opera Foundation-Stipendiatin zum Ensemble der Deutschen Oper Berlin. In dieser Saison wird sie hier unter anderem folgende Partien singen: Erste Dame / DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Berta / IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Annina / LA TRAVIATA, Tebaldo / DON CARLO, Das Echo der Rätselstimmung / ANTIKRIST, Die Schleppträgerin / ELEKTRA, Frantik und Grille und Eichelhäher / DAS SCHLAUE FÜCHSLEIN sowie Eine Hofdame / RIGOLETTO.
Vasilevskaya hat ihr drittes Jahr als Resident Young Artist an der Palm Beach Opera abgeschlossen. Zu ihren wichtigsten Rollen dort gehörten Clotilde / NORMA, Rosina / IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Sylviane / DIE LUSTIGE WITWE und erste Hexe / DIDO UND AENEAS sowie Coververträge für die vier Heldinnen in LES CONTES D'HOFFMANN, Adina / L'ELISIR D'AMORE und Belinda / DIDO UND AENEAS.
Des weiteren sang sie Donna Elvira / DON GIOVANNI am Eastman Opera Theatre, wo sie auch bei der Wiederaufnahme von Ricky Ian Gordons Oper THE TIBETAN BOOK OF THE DEAD mitwirkte. Als Des Moines Metro Opera Apprentice Artist der Jahre 2020 und 2021 war Maria Vasilevskaya im Sommer 2023 beim Aspen Music Festival engagiert und interpretierte dort Roxanne Coss in Jimmy Lopez' BEL CANTO. In der Saison 2024 kehrt sie nach Aspen zurück, um eine der Walküren zu singen und ebenfalls an Matthew Aucoins und Peter Sellars MUSIC FOR NEW BODIES mitzuwirken.
Auch auf dem Konzertpodium ist sie bereits in Erscheinung getreten. Zu ihren Auftritten als Solistin gehören Mendelssohns „Elias“, Bizets Carmen-Suite, „Lieder und Tänze des Todes“ von Modest Mussorgskij, Kurt Weills „Die Sieben Todsünden“, Händels „Messias“, Vivaldis „Gloria“ und Bachs Kantaten.
Die Gewinnerin des Laffont-Wettbewerbs 2023 für den Distrikt Tennessee wurde während ihres Studiums an der Eastman School of Music, wo sie ihren Master-Abschluss machte, zur Gewinnerin der Friends of Eastman Opera und Concerto Competitions ernannt. Außerdem hat sie einen Bachelor-Abschluss mit Auszeichnung vom Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory.
