Geboren 1973 in Verden an der Aller. Bühnenbildstudium in den Niederlanden bei Peter de Kimpe. Nach dem Studium widmet sie sich zunächst vor allem Tanztheaterproduktionen in Berlin, Bremen und Essen. Ende der 90er Jahre beginnt ihre kontinuierliche Zusammenarbeit mit Klaus Schumacher, sowohl am »moks« am Bremer Theater als auch am Staatstheater in Stuttgart. Seit 2005 ist Katrin Plötzky Ausstattungsleiterin des Jungen Schauspielhauses und Atelierleiterin Bühne, sowie Bühnenbildnerin zahlreicher Produktionen des Jungen Schauspielhauses wie auch des Schauspielhauses, u.a. 2010 »Romeo und Julia« und 2011 »Hiob« (Regie jeweils Klaus Schumacher). 2011 erhält sie für ihr Bühnenbild von Roland Schimmelpfennigs »Der goldene Drache« am Schauspielhaus den Rolf-Mares-Preis.
