Kat Kaufmann ist eine Film- und Theaterkomponistin und Schriftstellerin. Sie studierte zuerst Jazzgesang, anschließend absolvierte sie ein Studium an der Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen „Konrad Wolf“ in Potsdam. 2015 erschien ihr Debütroman „Superposition". Im gleichen Jahr wurde der Roman mit dem aspekte-Literaturpreis ausgezeichnet. 2017 erschien ihr zweiter Roman mit dem Titel „Die Nacht ist laut, der Tag ist finster". 2017 inszenierte Marie Bues Kat Kaufmanns Monolog „Ich distanziere mich von allem (und jetzt gut’ Nacht)" in einer Koproduktion vom Theater Lübeck und Theater Rampe. Kaufmann lebt und arbeitet in Berlin.
In der Spielzeit 2019/20 ist sie am Schauspiel Hannover für die Musik und die Videos in „Antigone. Ein Requiem" in der Inszenierung von Marie Bues verantwortlich.
