Der lyrische Leggiero-Tenor Kangyoon Shine Lee wurde in Seoul, Korea, geboren. Er machte seinen Abschluss an der Korea National University of Arts und studierte bei Prof. Song. Ab 2022 studiert er seinen Master an der Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin bei Kammersänger Prof. Roman Trekel. Während seines Bachelorstudiums erhielt er zahlreiche Stipendien und wurde immer wieder als Solist in Opernaufführungen der Korea National University of Arts engagiert. So gestaltete er Don Ottavio / DON GIOVANNI, Ernesto / DON PASQUALE und Nemorino / L'ELISIR D'AMOR bereits während seines Bachelorstudiums.
Kangyoon Shine Lee ist Preisträger zahlreicher koreanischer Wettbewerbe, darunter „La bella Opera Competition“ und „Seil Korean Art Songs Competition“. Im Jahr 2021 gewann er den „Belvedere-Wettbewerb“ und erhielt ein Engagement an die Deutsche Oper Berlin. So gab er hier sein Hausdebüt am 27. Dezember 2022 als Almaviva in Rossinis IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA und sang auch in DAS WUNDER DER HELIANE. In der Saison 2024/25 bereichert er das feste Sängerensemble hier am Haus und ist u. a. in Partien wie Tamino in Mozarts ZAUBERFLÖTE und der Kinderfassung DAS MÄRCHEN VON DER ZAUBERFLÖTE, Graf von Lerma / DON CARLO, Graf Almaviva / IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Cavalier Belfiore / IL VIAGGIO A REIMS, Malcolm / MACBETH, Walther von der Vogelweide / TANNHÄUSER sowie Pang / TUTANDOT.
Er wurde von Daniel Barenboim als Solist für ein Konzert ausgewählt und von der Zeitschrift „Das Orchester“ für seine Interpretation des Dorvil in Rossinis LA SCALA DI SETA in einer konzertanten Aufführung in Prenzlau ausgezeichnet. Er sang die Partie des Tamino / DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE sowie in einer Mozart Gala im Rahmen des Immling Festival. Auch ist er für die „Operngala der jungen Stars“ im Rahmen des Carinthischen Sommers nach Villach eingeladen. In der Saison 2021/22 sang er Verdis LA TRAVIATA und Schostakowitschs DIE NASE, jeweils unter der Leitung von Ainars Rubikis an der Komischen Oper Berlin und interpretierte das Tenorsolo in Rossinis „Petite messe solennelle“ im Berliner Dom.
