Seitdem ist er mit Regisseuren wie Andreas Homoki, Olivier Tambosi, Harry Kupfer, Aron Stiehl und Stephen Lawless an zahlreichen Opernhäusern tätig, u. a. an den Berliner Opernhäusern, den Staatsopern München, Hamburg, der Semperoper Dresden, Hannover, der Deutschen Oper am Rhein, den Opern in Köln, Leipzig, Bonn, Karlsruhe, Wiesbaden sowie den Nationaltheatern Mannheim und Weimar. International arbeitet er als Bühnen- und Kostümbildner an der Metropolitan Opera New York, an der San Francisco Opera, der Lyric Opera of Chicago, der Houston Grand Opera, der Los Angeles Opera, San Diego Opera, dem Royal Opera House London sowie der English National Opera. Ebenso in Straßburg, Dublin, am Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona, in Florenz, Bologna, am Fenice in Venedig, in Genua, Catania, Amsterdam, Antwerpen, Oslo, Helsinki, Zürich, Basel, Bern, Linz, Graz, der Wiener Volksoper sowie am Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, in Peking, Tokio und am Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg.
Außerdem entwarf er Ausstattungen für die Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik und die Händelfestspiele in Halle, für die Bayreuther Festspiele DER RING DES NIBELUNGEN 2006-10 sowie TRISTAN UND ISOLDE 2015-19, für die Bregenzer Festspiele das Bühnenbild für Faccios vergessene Oper AMLETO als auch das Bühnenbild für die Uraufführung LENUA in Zürich.
