Eva Pöpplein (Elektronikerin und Tonmeisterin) und Janko Hanushevsky (E-Bassist und Radioautor) spielen als Duo Merzouga Konzerte, komponieren Klangkunst, produzieren kulturelle Features und Hörspiele sowie Musik für Radio, Fernsehen und Film. Merzouga präsentierte Konzerte, Klanginstallationen und Uraufführungen u.a. in der Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, im Deutschlandfunk Kammermusiksaal in Köln, im Museum Schnütgen in Köln, im HAU Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin, im Münchner Volkstheater und im Ethnologischen Museum in Berlin. Ihre Rundfunkproduktionen wurden international vielfach ausgezeichnet und von allen ARD-Anstalten europaweit ausgestrahlt. Zuletzt gewann ihr Hörspiel „Memory Garden“ (Deutschlandfunk / Österreichischer Rundfunk) den 1. Preis beim 9. Grand Prix Nova in Bukarest. Merzouga verbindet eine enge Zusammenarbeit mit zahlreichen Künstler*innen, darunter Christian Brückner, Ueli Jäggi, Felix von Manteuffel, Leslie Malton und Sean Scully. In der Spielzeit 2021/22 zeichnet Merzouga an der Deutschen Oper am Rhein für die Komposition von „Die unbedingten Dinge“ verantwortlich.
