Claudia Stein, in Dresden geboren, erhielt mit fünf Jahren den ersten Klavierunterricht; mit elf Jahren begann ihre Ausbildung auf der Querflöte. An der Dresdner Hochschule für Musik studierte sie Flöte bei Prof. Eckart Haupt, dem Solo-Flötisten der Staatskapelle Dresden, und im 2. Hauptfach Klavier bei Prof. Heidrun Richter.

Claudia Stein, in Dresden geboren, erhielt mit fünf Jahren den ersten Klavierunterricht; mit elf Jahren begann ihre Ausbildung auf der Querflöte. An der Dresdner Hochschule für Musik studierte sie Flöte bei Prof. Eckart Haupt, dem Solo-Flötisten der Staatskapelle Dresden, und im 2. Hauptfach Klavier bei Prof. Heidrun Richter.
Bereits während eines Aufbaustudiums an der Karlsruher Musikhochschule bei Renate Greiss-Arnim wurde Claudia Stein als Solo-Flötistin an die Staatskapelle Berlin unter Generalmusikdirektor Daniel Barenboim engagiert. Gleichzeitig spielte sie als Solo-Flötistin im Bayreuther Festspielorchester. Sie war Jury-Mitglied des Landeswettbewerbs »Jugend musiziert«, unterrichtet bei internationalen Meisterkursen, beim West-Eastern Divan Orchestra und seit 1999 in der Orchesterakademie bei der Staatskapelle Berlin.
Mit der Staatskapelle und der Staatsoper Berlin, aber auch als international gefragte Kammermusikpartnerin und Solistin gastiert sie in allen europäischen Musikzentren sowie in Israel, Japan und Amerika.
Claudia Stein, selbst Mutter von drei Kindern, unterstützt mit viel Engagement den Musikkindergarten Berlin, den ersten Musikkindergarten Europas.
