Clara Hinterberger hat Musiktheater - und Schauspielregie an der Bayerischen Theaterakademie August Everding in München studiert und war Stipendiatin der Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes. Im Rahmen ihrer Teilnahme am FWF Forschungsprojekt „Oper anders denken“ entstand ihre Inszenierung zu „Cosi fan tutte“ von Mozart an der Kunstuniversität Graz und an der Deutschen Oper Berlin. Ihre Inszenierung von Elfriede Jelineks Kein Licht war beim Körber-Studio Junges Regie und dem 100°-Festival in Berlin zu sehen.
Sie nahm als Stipendiatin von ENOA am Opera Creation Workshop 2015 am Festival D’Aix-en-Provence unter Leitung von Fabio Vacchi und Katie Mitchell teil und arbeitet als Assistentin u.a. mit David Marton, Nicolas Stemann und Paul-Georg Dittrich zusammen.
Für die Opernbude der Münchner Kammerspiele entwickelte sie im Sommer 2016 zu „Dido und Aeneas“ von Purcell zwei Live-Klanginstallationen. Mit ihrer interdisziplinären Musiktheaterarbeit „Audiogramm – Eine Stadtteilkomposition“ eröffnete sie die Spielstätte HochX in München, sowie mit “REQUIEM” von Mozart die Nachwuchsplattform der Opernfestspiele 2018 am Nationaltheater Mannheim.
