Arne-Christian Pelz, 1. Solocellist der Deutschen Oper Berlin seit 2016, wuchs in Rostock an der Ostsee auf, bevor er in Houston/Texas, Berlin und Leipzig studierte. Mit 25 Jahren wurde er zum 1. Solocellisten der Symphoniker Hamburg unter Sir Jeffrey Tate ernannt. Neben seiner Leidenschaft für die Kammermusik führte seine tief verwurzelte Neugierde für unterschiedliche Musikstile und Formate zu einer Reihe an Kollaborationen mit Choreographen, Elektronischen Musikern und Video-Künstlern. Seit 2019 ist er Dozent an der HfM Hanns Eisler Berlin im Fachbereich Instrumentaldidaktik und Orchesterstudien. Darüber hinaus unterrichtet er an der ASK-Berlin Hauptfach Violoncello seit 2023. Arne-Christian Pelz spielt auf einem modernen Instrument von Alexandre Breton aus dem Jahre 2017 sowie auf einem fünfsaitigen Violoncello-Piccolo von Lockey Hill (1780).
