Annika Lu ist freie Kostüm- und Bühnenbildnerin.
Sie studierte Modedesign an der Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften in Hamburg und an der Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Kopenhagen. Sie assistierte am Ballett Theater Basel, Schauspiel Dortmund, Burgtheater Wien, Nationaltheater Oslo und am Deutschen Schauspielhaus Hamburg. In dieser Zeit realisierte sie die Kostümmalerei für diverse Produktionen u. a. DAS INTERNAT am Schauspiel Dortmund. Es folgten mehrere Arbeiten als Kostümbildnerin mit Ersan Mondtag, u. a. Elfriede Jelineks WUT am Schauspiel Köln und ANTIKRIST an der Deutschen Oper Berlin (ausgezeichnet mit dem Oper! Award 2023 für das beste Kostümbild).
Eine kontinuierliche Zusammenarbeit verbindet sie außerdem mit Tobias Staab, les dramaturx und Emre Akal. Für les dramaturx und Emre Akal ist Annika Lu 2023 als Bühnenbildnerin tätig (MEISTER RÖCKLE am Theater Magdeburg und NACHKOMMEN – EIN LAUTES SCHWEIGEN! am Theater Münster).
In der Spielzeit 2023/24 arbeitet sie mit Ulrich Rasche am Schauspielhaus Bochum.
Annika Lus Arbeiten bewegen sich nahe an der Bildenden Kunst. Neben ihrer Arbeit am Theater entwickelt sie freie Malereien, die wiederum beeinflusst sind von ihrer Arbeit als Kostüm- und Bühnenbildnerin.
