Der junge mongolische Bariton Amartuvshin Enkhbat erregte internationales Aufsehen, als er 2015 in Cardiff beim Internationalen Gesangswettbewerb des BBC den Dame Joan Sutherland-Publikumspreis errang.
Amartuvshin Enkhbat beendete 2009 sein Gesangsstudium an der Hochschule von Ulaanbaatar (Mongolei) und war schon seit 2008 Solist des Staatlichen Opernhauses der Mongolei. Er gewann diverse Preise bei nationalen und internationalen Gesangswettbewerben, u. a. Mongolian National Competition for Young Opera Singers (2009, 2. Preis), den internationalen Opernwettbewerb BAIKAL in Ulan-Ude, Russland (2011, 1. Preis), den XIV. Tschaikowski-Weittbewerb in St. Petersburg (2011, 2. Preis und Publikumspreis) und den Operalia-Wettbewerb in Beijing, China (2012, 1. Preis).
Sein Repertoire umfasst Rollen wie Escamillo / CARMEN, Prologo und Tonio / DER BAJAZZO, die Titelrollen in Rachmaninows ALEKO, Sharavs GENGHIS KHAN und Tschaikowskis EUGEN ONEGIN, sowie die Verdipartien Amonasro / AIDA, Graf Luna / IL TROVATORE, Giorgio Germont / LA TRAVIATA, Don Carlo / LA FORZA DEL DESTINO und die Titelrollen in RIGOLETTO und NABUCCO. Mit diesen Partien gastierte er u. a. in Neapel, Verona, Genua, Palermo, Florenz, Shanghai, Melbourne, Kiel und Paris. An der Deutschen Oper Berlin gab er sein Hausdebüt als Nabucco im Dezember 2019 und kehrt seither vor allem in dieser Partie immer wieder an die Bismarckstraße zurück. Im Juli 2023 wird er hier auch die Titelpartie in RIGOLETTO geben.
