Aino Laberenz studierte zunächst Kunstgeschichte, bevor sie ab der Spielzeit 2001/2002 am Schauspielhaus Bochum im Bereich Kostümbild assistierte. Danach folgten freie Arbeiten für die Wuppertaler Bühnen und am Schauspielhaus Zürich, wo sie 2003/2004 fest engagiert war. Sie arbeitete als Kostümbildnerin auch an der Volksbühne Berlin, am Wiener Burgtheater, am Schauspiel Frankfurt, und der Oper in Manaus in Brasilien, bei den Bayreuther Festspielen und an der Oper Bonn. Sie entwarf die Kostüme für mehrere Kurzfilme von Philip Reuter, in jüngster Zeit arbeitete sie u. a. mit René Pollesch und regelmäßig mit Armin Petras. Bei der Produktion »Der Zwischenstand der Dinge« von Christoph Schlingensief entwarf sie neben den Kostümen auch das Bühnenbild. Seit 2004 gehört sie zum Team von Christoph Schlingensief.
