Maria Motolygina ist Absolventin des renommierten Nachwuchsprogramms am Bolschoi-Theater und war Gewinnerin des Internationalen Königin-Sonja-Musikwettbewerbs 2021. Zu den jüngsten Höhepunkten zählen ihr Rollendebüt als Donna Anna / DON GIOVANNI beim Dmitri Hvorstovsky International Opera Festival, die Titelrolle in IOLANTA in einem Konzert mit Vasily Petrenko, das für die Ausstrahlung auf Arte aufgezeichnet wurde, Jeanne d'Arc in Tschaikowskys DIE JUNGFRAU VON ORLÉANS an der Novaya Opera in Moskau, die im Fernsehen übertragen wurde, sowie Wagners Wesendonck-Lieder mit dem Tschaikowsky Symphony Orchestra.
In der Saison 2021/22 gab sie ihr Debüt an der Polnischen Nationaloper als Micaela in CARMEN und in derselben Partie auch im November 2022 an der Deutschen Oper Berlin. Hier ist sie in der Saison 2022/23 Inhaberin des Belcanto-Stipendium des Förderkreises der Deutschen Oper Berlin und außerdem u. a. als Anna / NABUCCO, 1. Dame / DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Maria / SIMON BOCCANEGRA und Azema / SEMIRAMIDE zu erleben. Seit der Spielzeit 2023 / 24 ist sie hier Ensemblemitglied und war u. a. als Contessa Almaviva / LE NOZZE DI FIGARO zu erleben und wird im Juni Donna Elvira in DON GIOVANNI sein.
