Er studierte an der Theaterhochschule ‚Hans Otto‘ und der Universität Leipzig Theaterwissenschaft, Philosophie und Tanzwissenschaft. Er war als freier Journalist und Kritiker u. a. für zitty, Wochenpost, Theater der Zeit und die Berliner Zeitung tätig. Als Regisseur, Dramaturg und Theaterproduzent gehörte Michael Freundt zum Gründungs- und Leitungsteam der INSELbühne Leipzig und des Hackeschen Hof-Theaters, seit 1999 zum Team des Theaters Titanick. Seit 1997 war er als Pressereferent und künstlerischer Mitarbeiter und 2001 bis 2002 als Künstlerischer Leiter der euro-scene Leipzig tätig. Nach einer freien Mitarbeit in mehreren unabhängigen Produktionen im Bereich Theater, Tanz und Alte Musik, wechselte Michael Freundt Anfang 2003 als Stellvertretender Direktor in die Geschäftsführung des deutschen Zentrums des Internationalen Theaterinstituts (ITI). Seit 2004 engagiert er sich in den Treffen der Ständigen Konferenz Tanz, koordinierte die Formierung zum eingetragenen Verein und wurde mit der Gründung der SK Tanz im März 2006 zum Geschäftsführer berufen. www.sk-tanz.de

studied theatre studies, philosophy and dance studies at the theatre academy ‘Hans Otto’ and the University of Leipzig. He was a freelance journalist and critic for, among others, zitty, Wochenpost, Theater der Zeit, and Berliner Zeitung. As a director, dramaturge and theatre producer, Michael Freundt belongs to the founding and directing team of INSELbühne Leipzig and the Hackesche Hof-Theater, and since 1999 has been a team member of Theater Titanick. Since 1997 active as press relations officer and artistic assistant, and from 2001-2002 as the artistic director of euro-scene Leipzig. After freelance work for several independent productions in the field of theatre, dance and old music, in early 2003 Michael Freundt switched to the management of the German centre of the International Theatre Institut (ITI) as associate director. Since 2004 he has been involved in the meetings of the Ständige Konferenz Tanz; he coordinated its formation to a registered society and in March 2006 was appointed to establish the SK Tanz.
