Alfons Flores began his career as set designer in 1978 with the play »La Zapetera Prodigiosa« by Federico García Lorca, a production of the G.A.T.
group. The set designer co-founded the Barcolona theatre ensemble G.A.T. Apart from the stage set he was also responsible for the scenic realisation of different theatre plays from 1980 to 1997. Alfons Flores has designed the stage set for »Bernarda Alba' s House« by Federico García Lorca in 1998. This was his first cooperation with Calixto Bieito, which was followed by further stagings with the Catalan director, for example »Così fan tutte« at the Welsh National Opera, »Don Giovanni« (Gran Teatre del Liceu, English National Opera and Hanover Staatsoper), »Macbeth« by William Shakespeare at the Teatre Roma and recently »Manon« by Jules Massenet at the Frankfurt Opera. Alfons Flores is award-winner of several competitions. At the Komische Oper Berlin he has designed the stage sets for Calixto Bieito's stagings of »The Abduction from the Seraglio and Madame Butterfly«.
