Vera Nemirova, in Sofia als Tochter einer Sopranistin und eines Opernre-gisseurs geboren, lebt seit 1982 in Deutschland. Sie absolvierte an der Berliner Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ den Studiengang Musiktheater-Regie, assistierte bei Ruth Berghaus und wurde Meisterschülerin von Peter Konwitschny. 2000 gewann sie den „Ring-Award“ in Graz und 2002 den Förderpreis der „Akademie Musiktheater heute“ der Kulturstiftung der Deutschen Bank. Im März 2006 erhielt sie den „Kunstpreis Berlin“ in der Sektion Darstellende Kunst der Berliner Akademie der Künste.
Ihre Regiearbeiten erhielten von der Fachzeitschrift „Opernwelt“ mehrfach Nominierungen. Vera Nemirova inszenierte u .a. bei den Salzburger Fest-spielen (Bergs LULU), an der Staatsoper im Schiller Theater (Traettas ANTIGONA), an der Wiener Staatsoper (Tschaikowskijs PIQUE DAME und Verdis MACBETH) sowie an der Oper Frankfurt, wo sie zwischen 2010 und 2012 Wagners RING-Tetralogie auf die Bühne brachte. Im Verdi-Wagner-Jahr 2013 folgten TRISTAN UND ISOLDE an der Oper Bonn, beim Enescu-Festival in Bukarest Verdis OTELLO sowie in Basel Wagners LOHENGRIN. Vera Nemirova ist Lehrbeauftragte an der Wiener Universität und Gastprofessorin an der Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler“ Berlin.
