Seine Premiere als Schauspieler auf der Bühne im städtischen Betrieb hat er 2011 mit dem Kinderstück »Gullivers Reisen« (Regie: Anette Büschelberger). Kurz darauf studiert er von 2011 bis 2015 Schauspiel an der Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen. Seit 2015 ist er festes Ensemblemitglied am Münchner Volkstheater. Dort entstehen unter anderem die Produktion »Schuld und Sühne« (Regie: Christian Stückl), wofür er von Theater Heute als bester Nachwuchs Schauspieler des Jahres nominiert wird. Ab der Spielzeit 2016-17 ist Paul Behren festes Ensemblemitglied am Deutschen SchauSpielHaus Hamburg. Hier arbeitet er unter anderem mit Karin Beier, Michael Thalheimer und Frank Castorf zusammen. Seine jüngste Premiere hat er mit dem Tanztheaterstück »Assembl'âge« im Rahmen des New Hamburg Festivals. Im Herbst 2018 wird er von der Körber-Stiftung mit dem Boy-Gobert-Preis als Nachwuchsschauspieler in Hamburg ausgezeichnet. Im Rahmen der Preisverleihung entwickelt er sein erstes eigenes Stück »No Words. Paul lebt zur Zeit in Hamburg und ist Ensemblemitglied am Deutschen SchauSpielHaus.
