We cordially invite families and their children to the Open Foyer of the Theater an der Ruhr on five different dates. Open Foyer means that we open up our common areas for families and redesign them especially for this purpose.
The result is an exciting and creative program in which children can try out their skills in a playful way.
Our theater café is open for adults at the same time and in the same place.
Open foyer, open schedule: you come and go as you please during the specified period.
Admission is free.
We look forward to seeing you! ...

Here’s what’s on the program:
Sun, Sep 13, 26 2:00–4:30 p.m. Mask Theater
Who’s behind the mask? Together, we’ll design different masks and transform ourselves into mysterious, funny, or wild characters. Using various materials, colors, and our imagination, we’ll create our own masks, which will then come to life through play. A creative afternoon of crafting, dressing up, and experimenting.
Sun, Oct. 18, 26 2:00–4:30 p.m. Halloween Party
Is the theater haunted? This afternoon, the foyer will be both spooky and wonderful. We’ll tell scary stories, create our own little spooky moments, and make Halloween decorations. Whether it’s mummies, pumpkins, or ghosts—everything can be a little eerie, funny, and imaginative.
Sun, Dec. 6, 26 2:00–4:30 p.m. Sound Theater
What does a costume sound like? How does music move? Together, we’ll discover noises, rhythms, and sounds, dance through the room, and let movement, music, and materials give rise to little stories. It's okay for things to get wild, messy, and wonderfully chaotic every now and then. A playful afternoon full of sound, movement, imagination, and shared theatrical moments.
Sun, Jan. 17, 27 2:00–4:30 p.m. Fairy Tale Event
Once upon a time — and then everything turned out completely differently! We’ll dive into the world of fairy tales, listen to stories, and invent a new fairy tale together. Which characters will we meet? What adventures await? And how will our story end? An imaginative afternoon for listening, storytelling, and creating together.
