The oeuvre of Weinberg, who lived in two different dictatorships, is still waiting to be discovered. His Cello Concerto of 1948 is certainly a discovery: sensuous, full of gentle sounds and refined rhythms that product an exceptionally dense atmosphere, especially when a cellist as sensitive and virtuoso as Sol Gabetta is performing the solo part. read less
