»All I’m interested in is ›rubbish‹: only what has no useful meaning; I’m interested in life only in its meaningless manifestations,« claimed the Russian avant-garde writer Daniil Kharms (1905–1942). And the world seems to have appeared similarly absurd to the French farce writers Georges Courteline (1858–1929) and Pierre Henri Cami (1884–1958).
