Since 2000 the Berlin choreographer Martin Nachbar has concerned himself with Affectos Humanos, a piece originally performed in 1962 by the German expressionist dancer Dore Hoyer. In URHEBEN/AUFHEBEN he continues the reconstruction he began seven years ago and places it in a staging in which the focus is on the body as a memory carrier of 40-year-old material. In URHEBEN/AUFHEBEN Martin Nachbar questions the ability of a recollective dancer to donate something to her culture. Dore Hoyer was one of the most outstanding dancers and choreographers of the German dance world. Her works, which were originally performed in the time from ca. 1930 to her death in 1967, concern themselves with the fundamental condition of human existence. The „Affectos Humanos“ is a cycle of five dances, which deals with one human emotion per 4 minute section.
