INTERNATIONALE THEMED DANCE EVENT
FOREVER YOUNG
The themed dance event FOREVER YOUNG presents, over three weekends, the contemporary positions of choreographers on the demographic migration of our ancient society. Although elderly people today already represent a larger proportion of our society than young people, the aesthetic norm for FOREVER YOUNG is: look young, stay young and feel young!
Dancers and choreographers are acutely aware of this norm, because for them, in terms of their career, the ageing process becomes significant much earlier in life than it does for other people. Every dancer over 40 is confronted with the decline of their joints, meaning they are forced to consider the way in which they move. In the best case scenario, what emerges are new choreographic methods which incorporate the ageing process into the movement. The invited productions define old age not as a loss of abilities but as a gain of artistic possibilities and means of expression.
