Synopsis
Every weekend, Chen Si makes his rounds on the Yangtze River Bridge in Nanjing to prevent suicide from jumping into death. In the past 10 years, he has saved more than 200 desperate people, most of whom come from the province in search of a better life. They speak openly about the problems they cannot stand any longer. Deceived and degraded by representatives of state power or employers, they are ashamed not to meet the expectations of the family and the self-imposed goals. In the course of the film, as much as one learns about the saved and their living conditions, the tightly edited film circles ever closer the main hero Chen Si. His blood is poisoned by the exhaust gases with lead, and the shadows on his soul he tries to expel more and more with alcohol.
