Games People Play
Synopsis
A weekend without the Internet, and the abyss is already opening up for eight old friends! The surprise birthday party for Mitzi on a rocky Finnish island was well intentioned. But then glamorous Veronika introduces her Swedish star actor Mikael as her new boyfriend, triggering a round of old rivalries. Now the tension can be cut with a knife amongst the friends, many of whom have hooked up with one another in different combinations, while new desires are awakened. And once these hip thirty-somethings turn off their cell phones, their moral compasses also go off the rails … In her feature film debut, Jenni Toivoniemi creates a contemporary “Island of Bliss”. At the same time, she sketches a self-ironic generational portrait of people currently in their thirties, torn between their desires for love and their career plans.Nordic Film Days Talks: Click here for an interview with Jenni Toivoniemi, the director of "Games People Play".
