Synopsis
One of the last dinosaur of the German jazz landscape is seen with his family in his house in Stuttgart. The film shows, with the eyes of Wolfgang Dauner, a retrospective of his life. From a small prodigy at the piano to an idol and mentor of the German and international jazz scene. Exclusive concerts to mark the 75th birthday of Wolfgang Dauner are shown in the film: German Jazz Masters, Wolfgang Dauner, Klaus Doldinger, Manfred Schoof. Solo concerts, with the newly founded Stuttgart Jazz Orchester Open Air Concert in the natural idyll at the Blautopf: Dauner around Dauner, a duo concert by father and son Florian Dauner. Dennis Russell Davies conducts at the Berlin Konzerthaus the Bundes Jazz Orchester who plays a.o. a commissioned work by Dauner (with 150 musicians ). MPS Villingen on a Boesendorfer Imperial Piano at the legendary MPS studios Dauner gives a farewell concert.In the meantime, he is sitting in his homely conservatory with his wife Randi Bubat in the midst of herbal essences, talking, laughing and drinking a little red sometimes.
