The Germans may not be renowned for their joie de vivre, but at 11.11 am on the 11.11. is the kickoff for the biggest and longest party in the country, culminating in outlandish costumes and a huge street party on Ash Wednesday. But it is not a time of merriness for all, there are lovers and there are haters. This films puts itself on the side of the haters as they do their best to understand and appreciate what it is that makes the carnival the much loved event that it is. From the street cleaners who clear up the mess at the end to the politically ambitious members of the prestigious ’carnival committee’ whose aim it is to make each carnival the most successful yet.
