On the Aegean coast of Turkey, we met Rifat, a Beetle driver and enthusiasts. We got in to his 1973 model Beetle in hopes of seeing the countryside and just enjoying the journey that is driving in his piece of (German) history. As we journeyed on Rifat began apologizing for he had stop by a red light. Rifat and many other drivers from the region view the traffic rules more like a suggestion than an obligation. So, after his heart felt apology, he lectures us about how he and his Beetle community see themselves as the reminders of their cultures and traditions as well as good members of the society, so he had to stop while driving a beetle. After that we decided to interview him on a hill called Cennet Tepesi (Paradise hill). That is how our journey with Rifat became an ethnographic film which inspires us to think and reflect our values in our little communities.
